Do your knees ache after walking along the Jupiter Inlet? Does shoulder pain wake you at night? Are stiff hips or arthritic hands making everyday tasks harder than they should be?

Joint pain is one of the most common reasons patients visit my clinic. At Palm Beach Regenerative Orthopedics, we specialize in joint pain management in Jupiter Florida, providing evidence-based care designed to reduce pain, improve function, and help you move with greater comfort—without rushing into surgery unless it is truly necessary.

My focus as a board-certified orthopedic physician is simple: identify the exact source of your pain and offer the most appropriate, medically sound treatment for your condition and lifestyle.

My Clinical Experience Treating Joint Pain

Over the years, I have treated thousands of patients across Palm Beach County with conditions affecting the:

  • Knee
  • Hip
  • Shoulder
  • Elbow
  • Ankle and foot
  • Wrist and hand

In many cases, joint pain is related to:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Tendon injuries
  • Ligament instability
  • Cartilage damage
  • Overuse injuries
  • Inflammatory joint conditions

Careful diagnosis is critical to effective joint pain management in Jupiter Florida. I rely on a detailed physical examination, digital X-rays, ultrasound, and when necessary, MRI imaging to determine whether pain originates from cartilage loss, inflammation, mechanical instability, or surrounding soft tissues.

Accurate diagnosis is the foundation of successful joint pain management in Jupiter Florida and helps guide the most appropriate treatment for each patient.

Conditions Commonly Associated with Joint Pain

Many Palm Beach patients come to see me with osteoarthritis, one of the most frequent causes of chronic joint discomfort. The progression of osteoarthritis can involve cartilage thinning, joint space narrowing, and inflammation.

Other diagnoses may include:

  • Tendinitis or bursitis
  • Meniscus injuries
  • Rotator cuff tears
  • Labral tears
  • Post-traumatic arthritis
  • Degenerative joint disease

Each condition requires a tailored treatment approach.

Patient Centered Care You Can Trust

Our Approach to Joint Pain Management

Joint pain management is not a single procedure. It is a structured plan that may include:

Precision-Guided Injections

Using ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance, I may recommend:

  • Corticosteroid injections
  • Hyaluronic acid injections
  • Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
  • Regenerative biologic therapies when appropriate

These treatments aim to reduce inflammation, support tissue repair, and improve joint function. Outcomes vary depending on severity of degeneration and patient health factors.

Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation

Strengthening surrounding muscles can reduce stress on the joint and improve biomechanics.

Activity Modification

Many active Jupiter residents benefit from adjusting high-impact activities to protect vulnerable joints.

Medication Management

Short-term anti-inflammatory medications may be appropriate in selected patients.

Surgical Referral When Necessary

If imaging shows advanced joint destruction or structural failure, procedures such as arthroscopy or joint replacement may be more appropriate. In those cases, I provide honest guidance and referral to a qualified orthopedic surgeon.

Who May Be a Candidate for Joint Pain Management?

You may be a candidate if:

  • You have mild to moderate osteoarthritis
  • You want to delay or avoid surgery
  • You experience persistent pain despite conservative care
  • Imaging confirms a treatable joint condition
  • You are medically stable

You may not be a candidate if:

  • You have severe bone-on-bone arthritis requiring joint replacement
  • You have active infection
  • You have uncontrolled systemic disease
  • You are seeking immediate surgical correction for major structural damage

Appropriate patient selection is essential for safety and realistic expectations.

Risks, Limitations, and Uncertainties

All medical treatments carry risk.

Possible risks of injection-based joint treatments include:

  • Temporary increase in pain
  • Infection (rare but serious)
  • Bleeding
  • Nerve irritation
  • Lack of symptom improvement

Regenerative therapies such as PRP are still evolving in orthopedic medicine. While research continues to expand, results are not guaranteed and vary between individuals.

In advanced arthritis, these treatments may reduce symptoms but will not regrow severely damaged cartilage.

My responsibility is to explain these realities clearly before any procedure is performed.

How Joint Pain Management Compares to Surgery

For some patients, conservative treatment may delay or eliminate the need for surgery. However:

  • Severe joint deformity often requires joint replacement.
  • Large structural tears may require surgical repair.
  • Injections do not replace mechanical correction when structural failure is present

Surgery offers definitive correction for advanced disease but carries longer recovery times and higher procedural risk.

Our goal is not to avoid surgery at all costs—but to determine when it is medically appropriate.

Why Local Patients in Jupiter Choose Care Close to Home

Living in Jupiter and Palm Beach County means staying active year-round. Golf, tennis, boating, and walking along the coast all place stress on joints.

Having access to a board-certified orthopedic physician locally allows:

  • Ongoing monitoring
  • Safer image-guided procedures
  • Coordinated care with physical therapy providers
  • Continuity of care if surgical referral becomes necessary

Medical decisions should be made with a physician who understands your health history and lifestyle demands—especially when it comes to personalized joint pain management in Jupiter Florida.

I saw Dr Al-Rashid for a painful hip in 2023. I was at a point where I had to use my hands to “lift” my leg into the car because the pain was too intense to just lift it on its own. He said that I was a candidate for PRP (platelet rich plasma) injections because I still have cartilage. Although they are not (yet) covered by insurance, it was an investment in my comfort that I am very happy with. It has been over a year, I have no pain whatsoever and can carry out my normal routine, and increased my exercise. I highly recommend Dr Al-Rashid and the Atlantis Orthopedic Group in Palm Beach Gardens.

Always outstanding! He did my wife’s hip a little over a year ago and the follow up was great. I need two knee replacements and went to him to look at them. I will start with the first one end of this month. The staff follow through as been excellent. The best news is he does surgery at Palms West Hospital.

I had my right hip replaced by Dr. Rashid and he was excellent. The operation went smoothly. I didn't even feel the prosthetic when I woke up from surgery.

Before all of this he was very careful and helpful, explaining everything in detail from beginning to end, even tried a few treatments before jumping into an operation.

(injections/pills/scans etc)

He explained the pros and con very well. His staff is excellent in the Loxahatchee and Lake Worth office. I'm very happy I found him. My leg feels superior than my normal leg and it's only been three weeks. The incision was tiny, and after seeing him three weeks after the operation (today), the prosthetic is perfectly in place. I barely have any pain other than wound aches from the muscle incision, which of course is healing every single day.

I no longer feel any electrical surges on my leg, spasms, or the leg not waking up when I'm in a sitting position or sleeping. Literally feels perfect. I have nothing negative to say, would definitely recommend him to everybody. I like the fact that he was very detailed with everything from beginning to end.

He takes his job very seriously well being relatable and is not the type of doctor that jumps into an instant operation, unless absolutely needed, which is positive.

Frequently Asked Questions

What causes chronic joint pain?

Chronic joint pain is commonly caused by osteoarthritis, tendon injuries, cartilage damage, inflammatory conditions, or previous trauma. Proper imaging and examination are required for accurate diagnosis.

When performed by a qualified physician under sterile technique and image guidance, injections are generally safe. However, risks such as infection, bleeding, and temporary pain increase exist.

Regenerative treatments may reduce inflammation and improve function in selected patients. They do not cure advanced arthritis or fully restore lost cartilage.

Duration varies. Some patients experience months of improvement, while others may have limited response depending on disease severity.

Joint replacement is typically recommended for severe bone-on-bone arthritis with persistent pain and functional limitation that does not respond to conservative treatment.

Yes. X-rays, ultrasound, or MRI are often necessary to confirm diagnosis and guide safe treatment planning.
