A treatment approach that uses biologic material obtained from a patient’s own adipose, or fat, tissue.

Related Treatments

Autologous biologics

Biologic materials obtained from a patient and used in that same patient as part of treatment.

Related Treatments

B

Bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC)

A concentrated preparation created from a patient’s bone marrow aspirate.

Related Treatments

Bone marrow aspiration

A procedure used to obtain bone marrow, which can then be processed for certain orthopedic applications.

Related Treatments

Bursitis

Irritation or inflammation of a bursa, one of the small fluid-filled sacs that cushion tendons and bone near a joint.

Related Treatments

C

Cartilage

Connective tissue that covers joint surfaces and helps joints move with reduced friction.

Related Treatments

Cartilage degeneration

Structural deterioration of cartilage that may occur with osteoarthritis, injury, aging, or other joint disorders.

Related Treatments

D

Degenerative disc disease

A term used for symptomatic changes involving spinal discs that occur as discs lose normal structure or function.

Related Treatments

E

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy

A noninvasive therapy that delivers acoustic waves from outside the body to targeted musculoskeletal tissue.

Related Treatments

F

Fluoroscopy

A medical imaging technique that provides real-time X-ray images and may be used to guide certain procedures.

Related Terms

Focal shockwave therapy

A form of shockwave treatment that concentrates acoustic energy at a specific depth and treatment area.

Related Treatments

G

Growth factors

Signaling proteins involved in cellular communication and biological processes associated with tissue repair and healing.

Related Treatments

I

Image-guided injection

An injection performed using imaging such as ultrasound or fluoroscopy to visualize anatomy and guide needle placement.

Related Treatments

L

Labral tear

An injury involving the ring of fibrocartilage that helps stabilize certain joints, including the hip and shoulder.

Related Treatments

Ligament injury

Damage to a ligament, the connective tissue that connects one bone to another and helps stabilize a joint.

Related Treatments

M

Mesenchymal stromal cells

A population of cells found in tissues including bone marrow and adipose tissue that is studied for its biological signaling and tissue-supporting properties.

Related Treatments

A joint disorder involving changes to cartilage, bone, synovium, and other structures within the joint.

Related Treatments

A preparation made by processing a patient’s blood to produce plasma containing a higher concentration of platelets.

Related Treatments

Platelets

Small blood components involved in clotting and the release of signaling proteins associated with healing responses.

Related Treatments

R
