What Are Minimally Invasive Pain Procedures?

Minimally invasive pain procedures in Florida are targeted treatments that relieve pain by addressing the source — often without large incisions, overnight hospitalization, or extended rehabilitation. These evidence-based methods use precise, image-guided techniques to reduce inflammation, calm nerve irritation, or enhance tissue healing. Compared to traditional surgery, these procedures often mean:

  • Less discomfort and reduced recovery time
  • Lower complication risk
  • Fewer restrictions after treatment
  • Outpatient care with same-day return home

While some pain management clinics offer diagnostic blocks and injections only, our approach combines interventional techniques with regenerative medicine, addressing pain while promoting natural healing.

Common Minimally Invasive Pain Treatments

1

Epidural & Nerve Block Injections

Target inflammation and nerve irritation in the spine or joint by delivering medication directly to the pain source. These help with back pain, sciatica, and radiculopathy.

2

Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)

A precision method that interrupts pain signals by applying heat to specific nerves — often relieving chronic back or neck pain for months.

3

Image-Guided Joint injections

Small‑volume injections guided by fluoroscopy or ultrasound help reduce joint inflammation — ideal for shoulders, hips, knees, and sacroiliac joints.

4

Spinal Cord & Peripheral Nerve Stimulation

Advanced neuromodulation options that alter pain signals for chronic neuropathic conditions.

5

Mild and Other Spinal Procedures

FDA‑cleared, outpatient options for conditions like lumbar spinal stenosis that relieve nerve compression with minimal disruption.

6

Regenerative Orthobiologics (Adjacent Specialty)

Treatments like platelet‑rich plasma (PRP) and stem cell‑based therapies leverage your body’s healing systems to address musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction without surgery — often integrated with minimally invasive pain care.

I saw Dr Al-Rashid for a painful hip in 2023. I was at a point where I had to use my hands to “lift” my leg into the car because the pain was too intense to just lift it on its own. He said that I was a candidate for PRP (platelet rich plasma) injections because I still have cartilage. Although they are not (yet) covered by insurance, it was an investment in my comfort that I am very happy with. It has been over a year, I have no pain whatsoever and can carry out my normal routine, and increased my exercise. I highly recommend Dr Al-Rashid and the Atlantis Orthopedic Group in Palm Beach Gardens.

Always outstanding! He did my wife’s hip a little over a year ago and the follow up was great. I need two knee replacements and went to him to look at them. I will start with the first one end of this month. The staff follow through as been excellent. The best news is he does surgery at Palms West Hospital.

I had my right hip replaced by Dr. Rashid and he was excellent. The operation went smoothly. I didn't even feel the prosthetic when I woke up from surgery.

Before all of this he was very careful and helpful, explaining everything in detail from beginning to end, even tried a few treatments before jumping into an operation.

(injections/pills/scans etc)

He explained the pros and con very well. His staff is excellent in the Loxahatchee and Lake Worth office. I'm very happy I found him. My leg feels superior than my normal leg and it's only been three weeks. The incision was tiny, and after seeing him three weeks after the operation (today), the prosthetic is perfectly in place. I barely have any pain other than wound aches from the muscle incision, which of course is healing every single day.

I no longer feel any electrical surges on my leg, spasms, or the leg not waking up when I'm in a sitting position or sleeping. Literally feels perfect. I have nothing negative to say, would definitely recommend him to everybody. I like the fact that he was very detailed with everything from beginning to end.

He takes his job very seriously well being relatable and is not the type of doctor that jumps into an instant operation, unless absolutely needed, which is positive.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of minimally invasive pain procedures do you offer?

Palm Beach Regenerative Orthopedics provides a range of minimally invasive pain relief procedures designed to address back, neck, joint, and nerve pain without traditional surgery. These include image-guided joint injections, epidural and nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, spinal cord/neurostimulation options, and integrated regenerative orthobiologic treatments such as PRP and stem cell therapy to promote natural healing.

How do minimally invasive pain procedures work?

These procedures target the source of pain using precise, image-guided techniques like ultrasound or fluoroscopy. Instead of large incisions and prolonged rehabilitation, they aim to reduce inflammation, calm nerve irritation, or enhance tissue repair, often in an outpatient setting with shorter recovery.

Is regenerative medicine part of your pain management approach?

Yes — regenerative orthobiologic therapies like platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and stem cell-based treatments are often integrated with minimally invasive pain procedures to support tissue healing and reduce pain. These use the body’s own healing systems and are part of a patient-centered approach at the practice.

Are minimally invasive pain procedures safe?

When performed by experienced, board-certified specialists, minimally invasive procedures are generally considered safe. They are designed to reduce risk compared to traditional surgery, involve less downtime, and are tailored to the individual based on diagnostic imaging and medical history.

Will I need surgery after these minimally invasive treatments?

Not necessarily. Many patients experience significant pain relief and functional improvement without progressing to traditional surgery. Your care team will discuss all options and help you decide the best next steps based on your diagnosis, goals, and response to treatment.
