Stem Cell Therapy for Knee Pain Sebring, Florida

Are you dealing with persistent knee pain, an old ligament injury or cartilage wear? The first step toward regaining mobility may be stem cell therapy for knee injuries, a minimally-invasive option that’s gaining traction as an alternative—or a complement—to traditional surgical interventions. At the practice of Dr. Mamun Alrashid, M.D., you’ll receive a personalized, evidence-based approach to knee health: first exploring regenerative treatments tailored to your individual needs, and then, if necessary, moving on to advanced surgical options designed for faster recovery.

What is Stem Cell Therapy for the Knee?

Stem cell therapy harnesses your body’s own regenerative power by extracting stem cells—typically from bone marrow or adipose (fat) tissue—and delivering them directly into the injured knee joint. These stem cells can help reduce inflammation, signal repair, and support regeneration of cartilage, ligaments and meniscal tissue.

Used for conditions including meniscus tears, ligament sprains and strains, chronic cartilage degeneration and osteoarthritis, this approach offers a proactive step before committing to full surgical procedures.

Why Choose a Personalized Approach with Dr. Alrashid?

Tailored Evaluation: Dr. Alrashid takes the time to assess your unique anatomy, injury history and lifestyle goals. Stem cell therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all—each treatment is customized.

Comprehensive Regenerative Care: If stem cell therapy is appropriate, you’ll benefit from the latest regenerative medicine techniques to maximize healing and delay or avoid more invasive procedures.

Surgical Excellence, if Needed: Should surgery become the best option, Dr. Alrashid offers cutting-edge techniques and a fast-recovery focus—so you receive seamless continuity of care from regenerative therapy through to recovery.

Patient-Centred Decision-Making: You’ll be supported every step of the way—regenerative options first, surgery only if required—so you get the most effective, least-invasive path for your knee.

Who Can Benefit from Stem Cell Therapy for Knee Injuries?

Good candidates often include patients with:

Meniscus tears or partial ligament injuries

Early to moderate cartilage degeneration or osteoarthritis

Chronic knee pain that has not responded to conservative treatments

A desire to delay or avoid full knee replacement surgery

However, it’s important to note that for severe joint damage or advanced “bone-on-bone” arthritis, stem cell therapy may not fully replace surgery—but it can still play a vital role in a combined treatment plan. Some clinical review evidence shows only modest improvement in these advanced cases.

What to Expect from the Procedure

What Are the Benefits?

Minimally invasive: Compared to open surgery, stem cell therapy typically involves less downtime and fewer risks.

Faster recovery: Many patients resume light activity within days and rehab in weeks, rather than months of surgical recovery.

Natural healing: Because the therapy uses your own cells and promotes regeneration rather than just symptom relief, it addresses the underlying problem.

Potential to delay or avoid surgery: For many individuals, this approach may postpone—or in some cases eliminate—the need for full knee replacement.

I saw Dr Al-Rashid for a painful hip in 2023. I was at a point where I had to use my hands to “lift” my leg into the car because the pain was too intense to just lift it on its own. He said that I was a candidate for PRP (platelet rich plasma) injections because I still have cartilage. Although they are not (yet) covered by insurance, it was an investment in my comfort that I am very happy with. It has been over a year, I have no pain whatsoever and can carry out my normal routine, and increased my exercise. I highly recommend Dr Al-Rashid and the Atlantis Orthopedic Group in Palm Beach Gardens.

Always outstanding! He did my wife’s hip a little over a year ago and the follow up was great. I need two knee replacements and went to him to look at them. I will start with the first one end of this month. The staff follow through as been excellent. The best news is he does surgery at Palms West Hospital.

I had my right hip replaced by Dr. Rashid and he was excellent. The operation went smoothly. I didn't even feel the prosthetic when I woke up from surgery.

Before all of this he was very careful and helpful, explaining everything in detail from beginning to end, even tried a few treatments before jumping into an operation.

(injections/pills/scans etc)

He explained the pros and con very well. His staff is excellent in the Loxahatchee and Lake Worth office. I'm very happy I found him. My leg feels superior than my normal leg and it's only been three weeks. The incision was tiny, and after seeing him three weeks after the operation (today), the prosthetic is perfectly in place. I barely have any pain other than wound aches from the muscle incision, which of course is healing every single day.

I no longer feel any electrical surges on my leg, spasms, or the leg not waking up when I'm in a sitting position or sleeping. Literally feels perfect. I have nothing negative to say, would definitely recommend him to everybody. I like the fact that he was very detailed with everything from beginning to end.

He takes his job very seriously well being relatable and is not the type of doctor that jumps into an instant operation, unless absolutely needed, which is positive.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does stem cell therapy really work for knee pain?

Many patients experience reduced pain and improved mobility after stem cell therapy, especially those with mild to moderate knee arthritis or soft tissue damage. Results vary based on the severity of the condition, overall health, and adherence to post-treatment care.

Is stem cell therapy safe for knee pain?

When performed by experienced regenerative orthopedic specialists using a patient’s own cells, stem cell therapy is generally considered safe. Most side effects are mild and temporary, such as soreness or swelling at the injection site.

How long does it take to see results from stem cell injections in the knee?

Some patients notice improvement within a few weeks, while others experience gradual benefits over 2–6 months as the regenerative process continues. Results depend on the condition being treated and individual healing response.

Is stem cell therapy FDA-approved for knee pain?

Stem cell procedures using a patient’s own minimally manipulated cells are permitted and commonly used in orthopedic care. However, they are considered regenerative treatments and are still under ongoing clinical research.

How long do stem cell therapy results last for knee pain?

Many patients experience long-lasting relief, especially when combined with proper activity modification and strengthening. Results can last months to years, depending on joint condition and lifestyle factors.
