Stem Cell Therapy for Joints in Jupiter, Florida

Chronic joint pain from osteoarthritis, cartilage injury, or overuse can make you stop walking along the Jupiter waterfront, playing golf, or even getting up from a chair difficult. Many patients visit my clinic after medications, physical therapy, or injections fail to provide lasting relief. In Jupiter and Palm Beach County, we offer stem cell therapy for joints as a minimally invasive regenerative option that supports the body’s natural repair response and can potentially reduce pain while preserving joint structure.

My Clinical Perspective as a Board-Certified Orthopedic Physician

As a board-certified orthopedic physician serving patients throughout Jupiter and Palm Beach County, I treat individuals with knee, hip, shoulder, and ankle arthritis. For carefully selected patients, I use biologic therapies — including mesenchymal stem cell–based treatments — to help improve symptoms and potentially delay more invasive procedures.

Stem cell therapy does not cure arthritis or regrow an entirely new joint. I carefully evaluate your specific diagnosis and stage of joint degeneration to determine whether this treatment is medically appropriate for you.

What Is Stem Cell Therapy for Joints?

Stem cell therapy in orthopedics typically involves harvesting and concentrating biologic cells — often containing mesenchymal stem cells — from your own body, such as:

We process these cells and precisely inject them into the affected joint using ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance to ensure accurate placement.

Journals such as Mayo Clinic Proceedings and clinical discussions from institutions like Cleveland Clinic report ongoing research on regenerative therapies for osteoarthritis and cartilage injury. While early data show promise for symptom relief in some patients, outcomes vary, and long-term results are still evolving.

Highly Acclaimed Orthopedic Clinic

Patient Centered CareYou Can Trust

Conditions Commonly Treated

In my Jupiter practice, stem cell therapy may be considered for:

  • Knee osteoarthritis
  • Hip osteoarthritis
  • Shoulder arthritis
  • Mild to moderate cartilage injuries
  • Certain tendon-related joint pain

It is most often used for degenerative joint disease rather than acute fractures or advanced joint collapse.

Who May Be a Candidate

You may be an appropriate candidate if you:

  • Have mild to moderate osteoarthritis confirmed by imaging
  • Continue to have pain despite physical therapy or anti-inflammatory care
  • Wish to delay joint replacement surgery
  • Are medically stable and able to undergo a minor in-office procedure

In my experience, I see patients in the earlier stages of arthritis respond more favorably than those with severe joint deformity.

Who Is Not a Good Candidate

Stem cell therapy may not be appropriate if you:

  • Have advanced “bone-on-bone” arthritis with major deformity
  • Have active infection
  • Have uncontrolled autoimmune disease
  • Are seeking immediate, guaranteed results
  • Require urgent surgical correction

For some patients in Palm Beach County, I recommend joint replacement surgery as the most predictable and durable option — particularly in cases of severe arthritis.

Comparison to Other Treatment Options

Physical Therapy

It improves strength and joint mechanics but does not reverse cartilage loss.

Corticosteroid Injections

It may temporarily relieve inflammation, but repeated use can potentially harm cartilage health.

Hyaluronic Acid Injections

It may improve joint lubrication in select patients, though the effect varies.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

We use growth factors from your own blood, which are typically less cellular than stem cell–based preparations.

Joint Replacement Surgery

It treats advanced arthritis effectively but requires hospitalization, anesthesia, and recovery time.

Stem cell therapy bridges conservative care and surgery, it is less invasive than joint replacement but more involved than simple injections.

Risks, Limitations, and Uncertainties

It is important for Jupiter and Palm Beach patients to understand

  • Pain relief is not guaranteed
  • Improvement may take weeks to months
  • Some patients experience little or no benefit
  • Post-injection soreness is common
  • Infection, bleeding, or nerve irritation are rare but possible
  • Long-term outcomes are still being studied

I discuss the current evidence on regenerative medicine with every patient to keep expectations realistic.

Considerations for Palm Beach County Residents

Many of my patients in Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, and surrounding communities lead active lifestyles, golfing, playing tennis, boating, and walking on the beach. I prioritize preserving joint function without rushing into surgery, which is why I offer stem cell therapy for joints in Jupiter, Florida as a minimally invasive option.

I individualize every treatment decision. I evaluate your age, joint alignment, weight, activity level, and imaging findings to determine whether stem cell therapy is medically appropriate for you.

I saw Dr Al-Rashid for a painful hip in 2023. I was at a point where I had to use my hands to “lift” my leg into the car because the pain was too intense to just lift it on its own. He said that I was a candidate for PRP (platelet rich plasma) injections because I still have cartilage. Although they are not (yet) covered by insurance, it was an investment in my comfort that I am very happy with. It has been over a year, I have no pain whatsoever and can carry out my normal routine, and increased my exercise. I highly recommend Dr Al-Rashid and the Atlantis Orthopedic Group in Palm Beach Gardens.

Always outstanding! He did my wife’s hip a little over a year ago and the follow up was great. I need two knee replacements and went to him to look at them. I will start with the first one end of this month. The staff follow through as been excellent. The best news is he does surgery at Palms West Hospital.

I had my right hip replaced by Dr. Rashid and he was excellent. The operation went smoothly. I didn't even feel the prosthetic when I woke up from surgery.

Before all of this he was very careful and helpful, explaining everything in detail from beginning to end, even tried a few treatments before jumping into an operation.

(injections/pills/scans etc)

He explained the pros and con very well. His staff is excellent in the Loxahatchee and Lake Worth office. I'm very happy I found him. My leg feels superior than my normal leg and it's only been three weeks. The incision was tiny, and after seeing him three weeks after the operation (today), the prosthetic is perfectly in place. I barely have any pain other than wound aches from the muscle incision, which of course is healing every single day.

I no longer feel any electrical surges on my leg, spasms, or the leg not waking up when I'm in a sitting position or sleeping. Literally feels perfect. I have nothing negative to say, would definitely recommend him to everybody. I like the fact that he was very detailed with everything from beginning to end.

He takes his job very seriously well being relatable and is not the type of doctor that jumps into an instant operation, unless absolutely needed, which is positive.

A Thoughtful Approach to Regenerative Orthopedics in Jupiter

As a board-certified orthopedic physician, I provide evidence-informed guidance — not exaggerated claims. I offer stem cell therapy for joints to carefully selected patients in Jupiter and Palm Beach County when appropriate, but I do not present it as a universal solution.

If you are considering this option, schedule a comprehensive orthopedic evaluation that includes detailed imaging and a thorough discussion of alternatives so we can determine the most responsible next step for your care.

Your joint health deserves careful, individualized medical judgment grounded in clinical experience and evolving scientific evidence, and I apply both to guide every treatment recommendation I make.
